DESCRIPTION OF THE SERVICE
1.1. The service “Culturethèque” of the Institut français (hereafter “the Service” is a web space which enables the user to find in a single place all the online resources to which the Institut français has subscribed for the benefit of the general public. Further information is available at this web address.
2. CONDITIONS OF ACCESS TO THE SERVICE
2.1 Access to the Service is subject to the user registering with the Service on the application form directly accessible from a library of the French cultural network abroad (Alliance Française or Institut français). The user commits to fill in the application form with true, up-to-date and complete information.
2.2 Simply by accessing the website, the user is to be deemed to have accepted without any reservation the following provisions pertaining to browsing and using this website.
2.3 These terms and conditions of use are subject to modification at any time, without prior warning and without requesting their reacceptance. The user is subject to the terms and conditions displayed on the day the Service is used. The user is therefore invited to check back for updates.
3. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
3.1 The entire Service, including its data base(s), is protected under intellectual property.
3.2 The names “Institut français”, “IF” and “Culturethèque” as well as their associated logos are trademarks which belong to the Institut français and the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development.
3.3 Reproduction of all or part of the Service or the brands for purposes other than taking backups is forbidden without the express permission of the Institut français.
4. PERSONAL DATA
4.1 The data collected at registration, and in general all personal data collected while using the Service is processed in accordance with the provisions of the French law n°78-17 from the 6th of January 1978 referred to as the "Law on Information Technology and Civil Liberties". This data may originate from the user’s profile(s) with the Instituts français or with the Alliances françaises, in which the user’s personal information has already been recorded with their agreement.

4.3 The personal data given by the user are for the exclusive use of the Institut français and shall not be disclosed to third parties unless mandatory legal provisions stipulate otherwise.
4.4 The Institut français reserves the right to delete the account(s) and all data contained in them, for users who have not accessed the Service for more than a year.
4.5 In order for the user to avoid having to re-enter their data every time they log in and also to better understand their web browsing, the Institut français leaves a cookie on their computer. This cookie stores information regarding the user’s browsing behaviour (pages viewed, the date and time of viewing, etc.). The length of time this data will be kept on the user’s computer is set by the user in their browser settings.

The user's attention is drawn to the fact that some services require that the user accepts cookies. If your browser is configured to reject cookies, access to these services may be altered, if not impossible.
5. RESPONSIBILITY
5.1 For maintenance and/or development activities, the Institut français may modify or discontinue temporarily or permanently all or part of the Service without notice or indemnity. The Institut français is not liable for any direct or indirect damage caused to the user as a result of the use or the inability to use the Service, notably as a result of a disruption of the Service.
5.2 The user commits to use their ID and password on a strictly personal and private basis. They are entirely and solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their user ID and password. They are also responsible for any actions which could be carried out by them or a third party in possession of their ID and/or password. They agree to immediately notify the Institut français or the library proposing the Service and of which they are a member, about any unauthorised use of their ID and/or password, and any other security breach. The user should always log out of their account when finishing a session. The Institut français shall not be held liable for any damage resulting from the failure to meet the requirements in this section.
5.3 The Institut français assumes no reponsability over the content of linked sites.
6. applicable law and RELEVANT courts
6.1 These terms and conditions of use and the relationship between the Institut français and the users of the Service are governed by French law.
6.2 Any dispute which cannot be settled out of court shall be referred to the relevant courts of Paris.
