Que nous apprennent les noms de personne dans un contexte où la nomination peut être perçue comme un moyen d’expression subtil d’opinions qui ne sauraient se dire explicitement ? À partir d’un sujet de préoccupation fortement présent dans les messages des noms portés par les Bwa du Mali, le mariage, nous verrons comment l’anthropologue, attentif au contexte de la nomination et à l’identité du donneur de nom, peut accéder à une autre dimension de la vie sociale, au-delà des pratiques et des discours.. This paper deals with nomination in the Bwa society. This is a process that can be understood as a way to express subtle opinions when they cannot be explicitly stated. Taking weeding ceremonies as a case study, we show how the anthropologist open to both the context of nomination and to the identity of the name giver, can reach another dimension of social life, beyond practices and discourses.
