David Bellos is Meredith Howland Pyne Professor of French Literature at Princeton University, where he is also director of the Program in Translation and Intercultural Communication. He has translated numerous authors from French (Perec, Vargas, Kadare, Simenon, Antelme, Fournel) and has won many awards for his translations including the Man Booker International Translator's Award (2005). He is the author of several books on nineteenth-century fiction, alongside biographies of three icons of French culture in the twentieth century: Georges Perec, Jacques Tati and Romain Gary. He wrote an introduction to translation studies, Is That A Fish in Your Ear? The Amazing Adventure of Translation (2011).
