Alice Cherki - Frantz Fanon and his legacy / Alice Cherki

Document audiovisuel

This is a discussion about the lasting effects of French-Algerian psychiatrist, philosopher, revolutionary and writer Frantz Fanon. Although the Martinique-born Afro-Caribbean writer's books have been very influential in the fields of post-colonial studies and Marxism, his work has not always been accepted and his studies on "original cultures" have not always been recognized. Alice Cherki is particularly qualified to draw the biography and portrait of Frantz Fanon, since she has worked by his side for many years. The Algerian psychoanalyst has written a number of books including 'Frantz Fanon: A Portrait' which is based on her personal recollections of working with Fanon in Algeria and in Tunisia.
