Claire Denis discusses 'High Life'
Document audiovisuel
A key figure in contemporary cinema, Claire Denis has directed many fiction and documentary films. She came to Ciné Lumière on 8 May 2019 for a preview of her English-language debut, High Life, which is also her first foray into science-fiction and space films. The story, written by Claire Denis and her long-time collaborator Jean-Pol Fargeau, is an audacious journey into space starring Robert Pattinson and Juliette Binoche who are some od a group of prisoners on death-row sent into outer space for black-hole experiments. Their confinement and the situation they are in allows for an exploration of space and time, of touch, as well as an extreme investigation into what it means to be human. In discussion with Diane Gabrysiak, Denis evokes her inspirations as well as her exploration of space and time and of the influence that philosophers such as Jean-Luc Nancy have had on her work and on her way of thinking.
